Polyurethane parts offer a wide range of benefits and advantages over components that have traditionally been produced using rubber, metal, wood, and plastics, among others materials. It is harder wearing, less pervious to changes in temperature, doesn’t corrode, and it stays looking good throughout its lifespan.
Polyurethane parts also have a higher load bearing capacity as compared to many plastic, rubber, and mixed material components. These properties make polyurethane ideally suited for applications where continuous load bearing movement occurs, such as automobile components and production plant. It also offers higher chemical resistance, and is largely unaffected by environmental factors, such as water ingress and extreme temperatures.
Thanks to its flexibility as a manufacturing material, polyurethane can be shaped and moulded into virtually any form. It machines easily and responds well to being mixed with other materials such as steel (in cases where metal inserts like bolt sleeves and surface load washers are required). It can be produced in any colour and a range of hardness ratings, from rubber soft to bowling ball hard. It is highly impact resistant, too!
